Pengertian dan Contoh Narrative Text

Karangan narasi adalah salah satu dari lima jenis karangan yang paling umum ditemui. Pengertian dari kata narasi itu sendiri adalah cerita. Jadi, narrative text adalah suatu cerita di mana di dalamnya berisi kejadian atau peristiwa yang memiliki satu alur waktu dan disertai oleh tokoh yang mendapat konflik. Unsur pokok dalam karangan narasi adalah hal tersebut, yaitu tokoh, peristiwa dan konflik. Cerita narasi ditampilkan berdasarkan alur atau plot.
Cerita narasi bisa berbentuk fakta, misalnya jenis narasi ekspositoris. Contoh narrative text ini misalnya adalah biografi seseorang, suatu kisah pengalaman, serta autobiografi. Contoh narrative text jenis lainnya berbentuk fiksi yaitu cerita narasi sugestif yang dijabarkan dalam bentuk cerpen, novel, cergam atau juga cerbung.
Susunan bagian dari contoh narrative text meliputi awal, bagian tengah dan akhir. Bagian awal sebagai pengantar, biasanya mengenalkan tokoh dan suasana yang terdapat dalam cerita agar pembaca dalam mengerti dan tertarik. Kemudian, dilanjutkan dengan bagian tengah yang berisi konflik hingga sampai pada klimaks. Diakhiri dengan suasana mereda. Beberapa memberikan penjelasan yang panjang, yang lainnya memberikan penjelasan singkat. Namun, ada pula yang memberikan akhir cerita yang bersifat gantung sehingga pembaca diminta untuk menebak sendiri. Berikut ini diberikan berbagai contoh narrative text.
Berikut merupakan narrative text :
1. The Legend Of Sura and Baya
A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a shark and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in a sea.
Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food. Suddenly, Baya saw a goat.
“Yummy, this is my lunch,” said Baya.
“No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy” said Sura. Then they fought for the goat. After several hours, they were very tired.
Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in the different places. Sura lived in the water and Baya lived in the land. The border was the beach, so they would never fight again.
One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. He was very hungry and there was not much food in the sea. Baya was very angry when he knew that Sura broke the promise.
They fought again. They both hit each other. Sura bit Baya’s tail. Baya did the same thing to Sura. He bit very hard until Sura finally gave up and Awent back to the sea. Baya was happy, and finally, the places was the name of SURABAYA.
2. The Purse of Gold

A beggar found a leather purse that someone had dropped in a market place. Opening it, he discovered that it contained 100 pieces of gold. Then he heard a merchant shouted, "A reward! A reaward to the one who find my leather purse!"

Being an honest man, the beggar came forward and handed the purse to the merchant saying, "Here is your purse. Will you keep your word to give a reward now?"\

"Reward?" scoffed the merchant greedily counting the amount of gold. "The purse I dropped had 200 pieces of gold in it. You've already stolen more than the reward I'll give to you.! Go away or I'll tell you to the police."

"I'm an honest man," said the beggar defiantly. "Let's take this matter to the court!" In the court, the judge patiently listened to both sides of the story and said, "I believe you both. Justice is possible! Merchant, you stated that the purse you lost contained 200 pieces of gold. Well, that's a considerable cost. But the purse the beggar found had only 100 pieces of gold. Therefore, it couldn't be the one you lost."

And, with that, the judge gave the purse and all the golds to the beggar.

3. The Fairy Tulip

Once upon a time, there was a good old woman who lived in a little house. She had a bed in her beautiful striped tulip garden. One night, she was awakened by the sound of sweet singing and babies laughing. The sounds seemed to come from the tulip bed., but she could see nothing.

On the following night she was again awakened by the sweet singing and the babies' laughing. She arose and walked quietly to the garden. To her surprise, she saw a little fairy mother crooning and rocking athe flower like a cradle. In each cup of the flower lay a little fairy baby playing and laughing.

The old woman walked back to her house, and from that time on she never picked the flowers, nor did she allow her neighbours to touch them.

Narrative text diatas merupakan narrative text paling singkat sehingga mudah dihafal.
